3.2.
Scope of observation
Until November 1997, chalk was deposited on the
jets of a baking oven at a bakery in Himberg,
and had to be removed weekly using hot concentrated
citric acid solution. An electromagnetic water
treatment system (type Kalk MAX IT1) was then
installed. We inspected the spray jets after 14
days, and found that they were bright metal. It
was now no longer necessary to remove the deposit
chemically, since the spray jets were operational
without interruption. In order to verify the effect,
we asked the (very reluctant) baker to switch
off the water treatment unit for a short time.
After a week, no new deposits were jet visible,
but were so after two weeks. After the Kalk MAX
IT1 was restarted, they disappeared again by themselves
within two days, and never returned since.
The operating parameters and the composition of
the water (22 ° dH as per analysis by the water
company) remained unchanged during the entire
inspection of the system. The system was regularly
inspected over a period of three months. No new
deposits have formed on the jets. The system will
continue to be controlled for at least 9 months,
and any changes will be recorded.
4. Subject hot water bath
4.1. Task:
Is any change in the formation of boiler
scale inside a water bath (serves to generate
water steam in the TGM chemistry laboratory) to
be observed as a result of the electromagnetic
treatment of the input water ?
4.2. Scope of observation
A Kalk MAX IT1 electromagnetic treatment device
was installed on the water pipe that continuously
supplies fresh water to the laboratory water bath
in operation in the laboratory for approx. 30
hours a week. As a result of the many years of
operation, a generally uniform, roughly 1 mm thick
deposit had formed on the heating rod and the
walls. In the course of the observations, hitherto
over 10 weeks, an observable change occurred at
the area of the entry of the water, where there
is a continuous exchange of water, with the result
that this area is decisive for the observation.
In a water bath operated in parallel but without
water treatment system, the boiler scale formation
continued as before at the area of water entry.
4.3. Result:
As a result of the installation of
a Kalk MAX IT1 electromagnetic water treatment
system, observable changes took place with respect
to deposits in the water entry area. All deposits
dissolved, and to date no new ones have formed.
